v4 has no standard meaning in CBD. The FDA does not define version numbers for hemp extract products. A v4 tag comes from the seller. It can mark a formula change, a batch suffix, an app build, or a device revision. Treat it as a label detail, not a grade.
What v4 Can Mean on a Product
- Formula revision. A brand swaps carrier oil, flavor, or CBD strength and numbers the new mix v4.
- Batch suffix. Lot codes such as LOT-24-V4 tie a bottle to one production run.
- Software version. App and website builds show a number in the footer or the app store listing.
- Device version. Vape battery makers ship v1 through v4 of the same hardware.
How to Check a v4 Product
Ask for the certificate of analysis (COA). The batch number on the COA must match the number printed on the package. A COA for a different batch proves nothing about your bottle.

Read the Numbers
US hemp must test at or below 0.3% THC on a dry weight basis. A result above that line puts the crop outside the legal hemp definition.
Potency math is simple. A 30 mL bottle labeled 1000 mg holds about 33 mg per mL. Divide the COA total by the bottle volume, then compare that figure to the label claim. If the two do not line up, ask the seller for the report tied to your batch. If no report exists, buy elsewhere.

- No batch number on the package
- A COA that names no lab
- Claims that CBD cures cancer, Alzheimer's, or Parkinson's. The FDA has sent warning letters for claims like these.
- Potency stated as a proprietary blend with no mg figure
Questions for the Seller
- What does v4 refer to on this product?
- Which batch number is on my bottle?
- Can you send the COA for that batch?
- Which lab ran the test, and what is its accreditation?
If the seller cannot answer, v4 carries no weight. The batch COA is the document that matters.
