"V3" is a version label. On a CBD product it marks the third revision of a device, a formula, a package, or a test document. It is not a strength, a grade, a purity level, or a legal category. No US agency defines what V3 means on a CBD label.

What V3 marks on a CBD product
- Hardware. A vape battery, cartridge, pod, or dosing cap that the maker revised two times before the current model.
- Formula. A tincture, gummy, or topical with a changed carrier oil, flavor, or cannabinoid blend.
- Delivery. A change in how the CBD is carried, such as a liposomal or nano-emulsion version.
- Documents. A certificate of analysis (COA) revised after a retest, a new batch, or a corrected result.
- Software. Firmware in a metered vape or a dosing app.

A version number separates an old listing from a new one and gives buyers a way to name a specific item. Numbering is a business choice. One brand starts at V1. Another starts at V3 to suggest maturity. FDA rules cover ingredients and claims on labels, not revision numbers.

How to check any CBD product, V3 or not
- Find the lot or batch number on the label or the box.
- Request the COA that matches that lot number, not a sample COA from a different run.
- Read the date. A COA should be no older than the batch it covers.
- Check the panels: cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBG, CBN), pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, microbials, and mycotoxins.
- Confirm the lab name, its license number, and the test method.
- Compare the CBD amount on the COA to the amount printed on the label. A gap above 10 percent is a problem.

- What changed from V2?
- Is the hardware, the formula, or just the package different?
- Does the COA apply to this lot number?
- What is the milligram count per bottle or per unit?

If the V3 label sits on a device
Version numbers on vape hardware point to battery voltage settings, thread type, pod fit, or airflow. A V3 battery from one brand does not fit a cartridge from another brand unless the threads match. Check the resistance range the battery supports and the ohm rating of the cartridge. A mismatch burns the oil or gives weak vapor.
