Short answer
"Marijuana delivery near me" is a search for a local courier service that brings cannabis to a home address. In the US, that service needs a state license. Rules differ by state. Some states allow store delivery. Some allow delivery for medical patients. Some ban it. Federal law still lists cannabis as a Schedule I drug. Hemp-derived CBD is a separate product with a separate rule set.
Marijuana delivery and CBD delivery are not the same
- Marijuana: cannabis flower or extract with more than 0.3% THC by dry weight. Regulated by state cannabis agencies.
- Hemp CBD: cannabis extract with 0.3% THC or less by dry weight. Legal at the federal level under the 2018 Farm Bill.
- A state cannabis delivery license does not cover hemp CBD. Hemp CBD shippers do not hold cannabis licenses.
Check four things before you order
- License number. A legal operator posts a state license number on the site. Look up that number in the state cannabis registry.
- Delivery zone. Licensed drivers deliver inside a defined area, often one county or a set radius.
- Age check. Adult-use delivery requires an ID at the door. Minimum age is 21 in adult-use states. Some medical programs allow 18.
- Payment and tax. Cannabis sales run on cash because federal banking limits apply. State excise tax and sales tax appear on the receipt.
What a legal order shows
- Product name and brand
- THC and CBD content per serving, in milligrams
- Batch or lot number
- Lab test date and testing lab name
- Harvest or packaging date
- State-required warnings
Red flags
- No license number on the site
- No lab results and no batch numbers
- No ID check at delivery
- Shipping by mail across state lines. USPS and private carriers do not carry cannabis under federal law.
- Prices far below the licensed local market
If marijuana delivery is not legal in your state
Hemp-derived CBD ships to most US addresses. Buy from a seller that posts a certificate of analysis (COA) for each batch. The COA should list THC content, cannabinoid profile, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbials. Check that the lab is independent of the seller.
FDA position on CBD
The FDA has approved one CBD drug, Epidiolex, for specific seizure disorders. The agency states it has not set a safe level for CBD in food, and it has sent warning letters to sellers that make disease claims. CBD sellers cannot claim their products treat or cure disease.
Questions to ask a delivery service
- What is your state license number?
- Which areas do you deliver to, and what are the cutoff times?
- Do you require an ID at the door?
- Can you send the lab report for this batch?
