Late Night Cannabis Delivery: The Short Answer
Late night cannabis delivery exists in some US states. Rules come from state regulators, not the federal government. Hours, fees, and payment methods differ by state and by city. Licensed retailers in California may deliver between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. A 24-hour cannabis delivery service exists in a small number of markets. Hemp-derived CBD with 0.3% or less delta-9 THC follows different rules than high-THC cannabis.
State Rules Set the Clock
Cannabis remains a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act. Delivery across state lines is a federal offense. Each state that permits delivery writes its own hours.
- California: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. A city ban can remove delivery from that city.
- Colorado: 8 a.m. to midnight under state delivery rules.
- Nevada: hours vary by jurisdiction. Confirm with the state compliance board.
Check the state cannabis regulator and the city license list before ordering. A shop page may not list its cut-off time.
What a Delivery Order Requires
Buyers show a government ID with age 21 or older. Medical patients in some states qualify at 18 with a valid card. The driver carries a manifest that lists each item. Product travels in a locked container. State law bars the driver from opening packages at the door.
Payment and Fees
Cash is the common method. Cannabis is illegal under federal law, so most card networks block transactions. Some states permit debit through a cashless ATM terminal. Minimum orders run $30 to $50 at many shops. Delivery fees run $5 to $10. Sales tax applies at the point of sale.
CBD Orders Work Differently
Hemp CBD with 0.3% or less delta-9 THC is legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. The FDA states it is not lawful to add CBD to food or to sell it as a dietary supplement. CBD shipping by mail is common. State cannabis hours do not govern CBD delivery in most states.
