Cannabis open late near me: the short answer

No single closing time exists across the US. A licensed cannabis store can sell during the hours its state and city allow. Hemp CBD shops set their own hours, because they are not licensed cannabis retailers. Nevada is the state with 24-hour cannabis sales. Most other states stop sales between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

State closing times for licensed cannabis stores

  • Nevada: Las Vegas stores may sell 24 hours. State rules allow round-the-clock retail.
  • Michigan: sales run 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Colorado: 8 a.m. to midnight.
  • Washington: 8 a.m. to midnight.
  • Oregon: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • California: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Illinois: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • New York: no statewide closing hour. Each store posts its own schedule.

Cities can set a window shorter than the state maximum. Check the city license page and the state regulator page before a trip. A posted sign at the door is not proof of a valid license.

CBD stores and hemp products

Hemp-derived CBD with THC at or below 0.3% dry weight is legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. A CBD store is a standard retailer. It picks its hours. Many CBD shops run 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some stay open to 11 p.m. or midnight. Those hours do not follow the cannabis retail schedule, so a CBD shop may be open when a dispensary is closed.

Bring a government ID. Most CBD shops require 18 or 21 and up. Licensed cannabis stores require 21 and up for adult use. Medical patients may enter at 18 in some states.

How to find a store that is open now

  1. Open a map app and turn on the open-now filter.
  2. Call the store. Ask for the last sale time. Many shops cut off sales 15 to 30 minutes before the posted close.
  3. Check the store menu page. It lists hours and cut-off times.
  4. Check the license number against the state regulator list.

Delivery may run later than the storefront in states that allow it. The state closing hour applies in most cases.

What to bring

  • Government photo ID. Expired cards get refused.
  • Cash. Many stores take debit. Card network rules differ by state.
  • Purchase limits. Colorado allows 1 ounce of flower per transaction for adults 21 and up. California sets 28.5 grams of flower.

Hours change on holidays and after license reviews. Call first if the drive is long.
